About Masters in Physiotherapy Gynecology

Master of Physiotherapy in Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a two years postgraduate professional physiotherapy degree level course of study in India. This study was designed to assess the attitude of obstetricians and gynecologist toward involving physiotherapist in the management of patients with obstetric and gynecologic conditions.

The area of Obstetrics and Gynecology has minimally explored the emerging specialty which is clearly gaining momentum among therapists. The course focuses on the women's health issues including pre and post natal women.

The master professional study emphasized in a subspecialty in physiotherapy concerned with the promotion of health throughout the childbearing period and helps the mother to adjust advantageously to the physical and psychologic changes of pregnancy and the postnatal period. The role of the therapist in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Involves throughout the period of pregnancy, labour and puerperium and the pre-operative and post-operative periods.

The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects and principles techniques in an academic discipline such as Electrotherapy modalities in Obstetrics, Episiotomy, and its Physiotherapy Management, Aerobics, Weight Training in Pregnancy, Diastasis Recti, Puerperium and its Physiological Changes, Types of Assisted Delivering Gestational Trophoblastic Disease, Clinical Obstetrics, Relaxation Techniques, Dyspareunia and its Physiotherapy Management, Pre, and Post Physiotherapy Management for Gynaecological Surgeries.

Master's degree in Physiotherapy with a specialization in Gynecology. Physiotherapy primarily focuses on the assessment and treatment of physical impairments, disabilities, and movement-related conditions.

This specialization is commonly referred to as "Pelvic Health Physiotherapy" or "Women's Health Physiotherapy."

Curriculum

 The curriculum involves performing the Physical evaluation of Gynaecological conditions.

 It helps to distinguish and interpret between normal and abnormal findings in gynaecological conditions, to perform the differential diagnosis for women’s health and create a beneficial evidence-based design for safe exercise for this precise population.

 Along with that it concentrates on different fields like anatomy, pathomechanics, biomechanics, exercise physiology, evidence-based treatment, ethics, research and methodology.

 One month externship will be provided after each semester in reputed hospitals.

Scope of Practice

 Carrer placements will be available from time to time in recognised hospitals.

 Having an MPT degree will also make students eligible for a variety of academics, research projects and leadership positions in addition to clinicians.

 It makes room for more advanced investigations and further higher studies.
